Hendrik Vlek DO (CH) studied at the John Wernham International Academy of Classical Osteopathy in Leuven in association with the Maidstone College of Osteopathy. In 1995, he began osteopathic practice in Sion, Switzerland, where he also mentors interns at the Swiss School of Osteopathic Medicine. He has also been teaching at ICO for many years.

Francisco Toscano DO (ES) began his training in Manual Therapy and Sports Physiotherapy. His journey in Osteopathy began in England, where he completed his degree in Osteopathic Medicine.Understanding and treating the human body as a whole has been his personal dedication and interest in clinical practice and experience over the past 25 years.

Christopher Batten DO (UK), Education Director of FICO at the Institute of Classical Osteopathy. He graduated in 1989 from Maidstone College of Osteopathy under John Wernham. In addition to his roles at ICO, he is a speaker, teaching in various locations across Europe, Canada, Japan and Russia. He currently lives and practices in Toronto, Canada.

Alexander Johnson DO (UK) completed his studies in 2003, and began working for a prestigious member of the BSO. He later opened his clinic. Alex continued his study of Natural Healing, Natural Hygiene and Biogenic Living with John Fielder at the Natural Living Academy. Currently, he works in his clinic practicing Classical Osteopathy and “direct” Natural Healing methods.

Sílvia Gomes DO (PT) has been interested in the health sector since childhood. Determined, motivated and very committed to personal and professional growth and development. Since 2005, she has been practicing in her own private clinic. And since 2020, she has been Managing Partner and is part of the board of directors of Clínica da Hygeia – Lisbon Osteopathy Clinic.

Paul Mazzucco DO (IT) graduated in Sports Science in 1994. In 1997, he graduated in Physiotherapy and in 2003 he qualified as an Osteopath in Italy . He graduated from JWCCO in Classical Osteopathy (2005), under the tutelage of John Wernham. He is currently co-director of the Littlejohn Center in Dublin, founded and run by Chris Campbell, with whom he carries out several projects.

Miguel Otero DO (PT), since 2012, he has been translating and teaching Classical Osteopathy classes at JWCCO. He considers himself passionate about the movements of life and the art of exercise. In 2014 he completed the Postgraduate and Advanced Course in Classical Osteopathy (JWCCO). Currently, he practices in his private practice and in Clinics in Lisbon.

Isabel Fonseca DO (PT) has 15 years of experience in Laboratory Clinical Analysis and Public Health. Osteopathy awakened more fascination with the art of care and treatment. She completed the advanced course in Classical Osteopathy (JWCCO and IPOC). And the Postgraduate Course in Classical Osteopathy – IPOC. She collaborates with IPOC, and the Passo em Frente clinic.

Abel Santos FT (PT) graduated in Physiotherapy and worked in several institutions. He has worked in different areas such as geriatrics, functional rehabilitation, hydrotherapy and sport. The principles of Osteopathy fascinated him and in 2022, he completed the Specialization Course in Classical Osteopathy, at IPOC. Currently consults in Setúbal and Torres Vedras.

Mensagem do Director

Apesar de sermos uma instituição muito jovem, nem por isso nos devemos esquecer de que o que aqui fazemos é muito antigo, vem de muito longe e vai para muito longe: começou naquele dia perdido nos tempos em que pela primeira vez um ser humano percebeu que por detrás da biomecânica existia uma fisiologia imanente perante a equação da estrutura versos função e era obrigatório passar à geração seguinte a experiência e o saber que «o labor, o trabalho e a ação», como diria Hannah Arendt, lhe tinham proporcionado. Nesse dia longínquo, há dezenas de anos, esse ser humano deu início a uma das atividades mais belas e mais nobres da Humanidade: o ensino da Osteopatia.

 

É com o compromisso e o dever para com os nossos antecessores e alunos, que assumimos o ensino da Medicina Osteopática segundo os seus primórdios Princípios, com intuito na evolução e progresso do conhecimento.
